HONOLULU (AP) — Honolulu police arrested a woman accused of hitting an elderly man while driving under the influence of alcohol.
The 89-year-old man was hit while walking in a marked crosswalk about 5 a.m. Saturday in Kahala.
Lt. Bobby Towne said the 24-year-old driver was making a left turn at the intersection of Hunakai Street and Kilauea Avenue.
Towne said the woman appeared to have been drinking. He said while she had a green light, the woman should have yielded to the pedestrian.
The victim was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
